The Solution Focused Approach is all well and good, but it really works best if you make sure to add in this one idea. This is not often talked about but it truly a game changer when using this approach.

I was thinking while listening to you, that not only should I not give up on the client “getting it” and being able to answer the questions, I need to not give up on myself “getting it” and asking good questions. Thanks Elliott.
Absolutely Rebekah! You’ve got too trust yourself as well.
Rebekah- your point resonates with me. It speaks to the fact that while I am learning to become more facile with this approach, I cannot become self-conscious about what I am doing because then I forget about the client. I am there to help him/her see another way. Thanks!
Thanks Elliott! Persistence does pay off. I had a client who clearly was annoyed with the questions but I persisted. Always good counsel.
It usually takes a bit of persistence!
Keep persisting!
