One of the issues that faced the Solution Focused Approach when I was first introduced to it more than 10 years ago was questions about how effective this approach was. Particularly, how effective is this approach when working with clients who have major issues or problems? To a large degree, this credibility issue has been addressed through the years, but in some professional circles, these questions still persist. Check out this video to see an interesting perspective to address this.
Interesting counterpoint on the subject of credibility with using the SFBT approach. What it sounds like to me is that the SFBT philosophy is still very young in its clinical and holistic use and needs more use (maybe even collaborative with other practitioners, therapists, and service delivery advocates).
