There’s an old African proverb that says, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far, go together’. Now I’ve heard that a long time. I’ve known about this proverb. I’ve heard that time and time again. I’ve read it in books. Like it’s been around, but this past week I got to feel it. I got to experience it. And I want to tell you about it because I think you could benefit from this lesson.

I assume you’re just like me. Like you don’t easily ask for help. You don’t easily express that you are having a hard time. You need to lean on someone and you don’t easily access resources when necessary. So what happened this week was, so I have this person on my team named Helen and Helen has worked for me for a couple of years.

Stop feeling stuck in your sessions and start leading your clients to their desired outcome with confidence!

And in that time we have made hundreds of videos together. And this past week we released a video that was probably the rawest most vulnerable video that I had ever done that I had ever released. And when Helen was just about to release the video the morning of the drop day, she reached out to me and she said, I want you to watch this video to make sure you’re comfortable with this going out.

So I watched the video to make sure I was comfortable with this lesson going out, this message going out into the world. And I didn’t see anything alarming other than the sensitive nature to what I was sharing. So I called Helen and I just wanted to make sure there was nothing that I was missing. Nothing that Helen had noticed. That she wanted to draw my attention to, to make sure I was really comfortable with this message going out into the world. And she said, no, no, no. I just wanted to give you the opportunity to watch it and make sure you’re comfortable.

So I said, I was comfortable and we let the video go out. And literally, I mean, the comments were crazy. The world rallied around me and sent me loving, caring, supportive comments, and loving, caring, and supportive messages to me. But what is amazing to me is that I have a member on my team that cares so much about me and the brand of my company, that she would take the extra step to make sure I was comfortable before this message went out.

The truth is I have an amazing team. I’ve got a great business partner, a woman named Anna Francis. A great leading mind, I actually think Adam Froerer is the strongest Solution Focused mind in the world. And he leads the research and training for my company. We have a person that helps us with training named Cecil Walker. My assistant Del is amazing. My social media team, Grace and Taylor are amazing.

Like it’s a remarkable team that I have that I built around me, but it’s moments like this when I realized they’re not just employees. They’re the people that are helping me go far. They’re not just employees, but they’re team members that are helping me work on my dream and allowing me to work on theirs. They’re not just employees. They’re like family. Like Helen did not have to do that. Helen did not have to take that extra step to care about what was going to happen as a consequence of this video going out. But she did. And it’s a reminder to me that if you want to go fast, do it alone. But if you want to go far, surround yourself with caring people who believe in you and believe in your dream.

The truth is I live in a world that has far surpassed where I ever thought I would get. I have accomplished way more than I ever dreamt that I could, but it’s because of people like Helen, that I’ve been able to do it because they see something in me. They believe in me and they work just as hard on my dream as I work on theirs. And as I work on mine and as a consequence, I’ve gone way farther than I ever thought I could. Thanks to Helen. Thanks to Anna. Thanks to Taylor. Thanks to Adam. It has been remarkable. It has been remarkable.

So it’s really important that we understand that if you want to go far, you got to build people around you that can help carry you further than you can go on your own. Now, like I said, I know that some of you out there, you’re not the type of people that would easily access help. You don’t ask for help. You don’t lean on people. But I also know that some of you have gotten through really hard things because of the love and care of someone else.

I also know that some of you accomplish your biggest dreams, like you got that degree, or you got that job, or you got through that trauma because someone in your life loved you. So here’s what I want to do. I want to turn the comment section of this video into like a thread of love, caring, acknowledgement, and thanks. So leave a comment below tagging someone that has helped you through a difficult time that has helped you accomplish something magnificent that has helped you work on your dream.

That has helped you work on your goal. I want, I want to turn this thread into a thread of love, into a thread of care, into a thread of awesomeness. So I want you to leave a comment below and tag someone that you need to give thanks to that. You need to give acknowledgement to that. You need to shout out at someone that allowed you to help them.

That someone that helped you get through a difficult moment or accomplish an amazing task. I think we have to get in the habit of recognizing it’s really true. It’s really true. That old African proverb is absolutely true. You want to go far fast, go alone. You want to go far go together. So let’s thank the people that helped us go far.
