When I first started my journey in the mental health field, all I wanted to do was make a difference in people’s lives. I wanted to help people, genuinely, really, I wanted to help people. And I remember the best way thing to do that was to get a job. So I got my master’s degree, and I got my license, and I started working at a community mental health agency.
And then I realized, I could impact more people if I was working my own business and I was doing therapy the way that I wanted to do it. So that’s when I set up my therapy practice. And then I realized I can only help the people that could drive to my office. This is before Zoom and stuff like that. So that’s when I started working to reach more people beyond my office. I started writing books, I started giving lectures, started traveling. And I’ve always been thinking about how do I reach more people and reach more people.
And then I met some people that completely changed my life. Tiffany Haddish, we’re co-producing some projects together. And then this man named Charlemagne tha God. And Charlemagne tha God owns a podcast network, and it’s called The Black Effect.
We met, became friends, and he said to me, “I’d love for you to host a podcast on my network.” And we did. And the podcast is called Family Therapy. And we did season one last year, and it was an amazing experience where I got to work with a family. And you get to see their healing journey from the beginning to the end, and how everybody gets impacted. It’s about a woman, her partner, and her father, and all the turmoil that had existed between her and her father, and her and her partner, and her own mental health journey. It was an amazing thing, absolutely amazing. I’m so honored. I can’t believe I got to be a part of it.
And then season two, we just wrapped up recording, and we’ve just released. Season 2 is now available, or at least the first episode, is now available on The Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio, or anywhere else you get your podcast.
I want to share that with you because if you are watching this video, you’re probably interested in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. And specifically you’re probably interested in my work.
Well, here in season two, there’s a new family. And this family, they have some generational traumas, pains and struggles and difficulties that are gonna make season two unbelievably dynamic. And you’re gonna watch some people get closer and heal. You’re gonna watch some people go through some really Hard things, and it’s available right now.
So I’m sharing this with you because, I have always wanted to take Solution Focused Brief Therapy and expose more people to it. Not just more clinicians, but also the general public, so people can see that therapy can be about hope, and the future, and positivity, and resources, and healing. And that’s what this podcast represents.
I am so grateful to Charlemagne tha God, the founder of The Black Effect Podcast Network; Dolly Bishop, who is his partner, she runs The Black Effect Network; for allowing me the privilege and honor of working with these families and doing this podcast.
And now I want to invite you, my listeners, the people on my email list, the people on my YouTube channel, people connecting to me on social media. I want to invite you to go and listen to the first episode in season two, and enjoy this journey, and get hooked in season two. Like the podcast, subscribe to the podcast, leave feedback on the podcast.
It’s so special and so important that people get access to this, that professionals get access to it so you see how therapy works when you’re seeing clients. The season is 16 episodes, so you’ll see an entire journey. And so more people will see what therapy can look like, what Solution Focused Brief Therapy can look like, and what a healing journey can look like. I need your help to do that.
So I’m inviting you to go watch episode one in season two. It’s now available on The Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio or anywhere else you get your podcast.
Thank you so much.
Please listen to the episode, send me a message, contact me on social media, send me an email, send me a text message. I would love to hear what you think of season two. This is gonna be an amazing ride.
Thank you so much. I love y’all, and I can’t wait to hear what you think.
